Interview with Carol Haggiag

Carol Haggiag  is an original jewelry designer who join Narcissik Jewelry

Presence Silver Ring

What first inspired you to become a jewelry designer?

A few years ago I was diagnosed with a thyroid cancer. My whole life changed. Surgeries and treatments obliged me to spend days at home and left lots of room to worries. My husband came home one day with an unexpected present, a couple of beautiful bead/stone strands.

This was the beginning of all.

Creating jewelry pieces with all the unlimited colors, variations, and options opened up a new creative outlet in me.

As I explored my creativity and it brought me healing. It was a way to go inside and clean myself from the desease.

Where is your creativity coming from?

I always was a creative person. I have a visual memory and love observing. I like shapes , colors, textures found in nature and in my daily environment. I also have a vivid imagination.  I find a quiet inner place when working with metal.

Teina SIlver Ring

What is your jewelry/creativity style?

I’ve been told my jewelry is modern, different, eccentric and bold. Classic, ethnic, contemporary and avant-garde design elements are evident in my work. I simply like to experiment with ideas I have in mind and doing so gives birth to other new designs.

What is your favorite piece that you designed?

My favorite piece is a silver bracelet covered with silver chips and tiny delicate opals.

Jeweler Interview with Isabelle Unver

By sparklyscotty on 9/8/10 9:18am

http://jewelryreport.com/news/jeweler-interview-isabelle-unver

Isabelle Unver is a jeweler after my own heart.  Her designs feature soft, flowing shapes, intricate techniques and plenty of silver!  Her pieces display a range of styles and show off her craftsmanship by showcasing her talent in difficult techniques such as chainmaille, wire weaving and repoussé. Here, she talks to The Jewelry Report about her work.

What are your favorite materials to work with?

My favorite material to work with is sterling silver; I love to work, polish or textured it. Silver allows me to create endless piece of art. For my future creations, I would love to integrate precious stone and pearls.

What is your favorite design, and is this your best seller?

It is difficult to say as it depends on my mood and day, I love all my creations and I wear all of them, these days, I am mostly wearing the “Poussiere d’Argent” cuff and the Japanese weave bracelet. They are elegant and have a presence on my wrist, they just complete my outfit. I just finished those bracelets so they are not yet available on my online boutique. Our best seller of this month is the intricate Turkish roundmaille bracelet.

How did you first get into jewelry art in general?

I always been creative and into design, I used to make clothes, paint, relook everything around me…After a dream trip to the Silver city, Taxco in Mexico, I decided to take jewelry classes to understand and learn about jewelry fabrication. I always loved and wear silver jewelry and now I am more at an artistic level, I got passionate about designing and making pieces. And one morning, it just clicks; I would love to open my online jewelry business “NarcissiK Jewelry” with the idea to promote talented jewelry designer from different countries and my own pieces.

Can you tell us more about the themes that run through your jewelry?

I get inspired everyday in our modern city by an architectural detail, a movement or a form mixed with my travels and French flair/touch.

What do you have planned for future collections?

My next project is an asymmetric cuff and then surprise, surprise.

Do you get more excited about the design or technical aspects of jewelry art?

Both, I am excited when I get inspired by a new design and excited to put the design into reality.

Can you name another jewelry designer whose work you admire?

I really admire Paloma Picasso designs (from Tiffany&Co.) especially the Moroccan collection.

Do you find the process of experimentation frustrating or inspiring?

It depends on the jewelry, sometimes I get inspired and with some jewelry frustrated.

Do you prefer doing retail or trade events?

I am just selling my silver jewelry online, I would be happy to have the opportunity to do a trade event.

If you could have any jewelry super-power to help you with your jewelry what would it be? (Perhaps flame throwing hands to fire your pieces quickly?  Mind reading for your customers? Extra arms?  🙂

Interesting, a super-power, well I would love to be able to work, create and make 24/-7/7, I would never be tired and would never need to sleep 😉
